What is surplus fabric?

Surplus fabric or dead stock fabric is brand new, never been used material that already exists.

It is over-ordered by other brands, unused, or left over from their production process. It sits in mills and warehouses with nowhere to go.

Unused pre-consumer textile waste is “hidden waste” amounting to at least 10 million kilograms of fabrics in Australia each year (Australian Surplus Textile Survey Summary Report - 2022)

Outer fabric: 100% Australian wool (Surplus). Sourced from Circular Sourcing. All grown and spun in Australia, Originally made by Life Textiles for the upholstery industry,

Cap Visor: Biodegradable 100% cotton fusing . No synthetic interfacing.

Thread: 100% cotton

Seams: 100% ripstop cotton

Woven label: 100% pure OEKO-TEX® certified cotton. Made in Germany.

We currently offer two sizes of PROJECT.SARDINE hats (Small & Medium).

Please note our hat sizing is based on the internal opening of the hat.

Small: 60 cm opening, best suited to approx. 55-57 cm head circumference

Medium: 64 cm opening, best suited to approx. 58-61 cm head circumference

As this is a soft, relaxed style, each size includes a little extra room for comfort.

If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up for a relaxed fit or sizing down for a more secure fit.

*To measure your size, please use a soft tape measure or string to measure around the largest of your head, positioned around the mid-forehead and just above your ears. Refer to the size guide for your hat size according to your measurement.

Returns/Exchanges

We hope you love your purchases, but on the off chance you don't or you need a different size, we can offer a refund, or an exchange if we have stock available.

To be eligible for a return you have 21 days after receiving your item to request a return. Items must be in original condition, with tags attached, unwashed and unworn.
The cost of returns or exchange is covered by the customer. We will cover the cost if the item is damaged or faulty.

Standard shipping $5.00 Aus wide and a $9.95 express option.
International orders have a flat rate of $35 AUD.
